Primary Function

 

Provide overall leadership, management and direction for Shaw-Lundquist Associates construction project(s).  Problem solving and creating positive results are critical.  Maintain project information, financials, documents, drawings / Specifications and schedule while leading and working as a project team member. Coordinate and communicate extensively with Subcontractors, Architects, Engineers and Owner. Interact and report as needed to upper management the status of the project.  Lead and practice the SLA mission statement and core principles.

 

 

Position Authority/Guidelines

 

You are expected to work with independence and use experience, initiative and sound judgment to accomplish work responsibilities and duties.  Communication with the entire team is critical.  You are requested to continue your professional development especially your construction knowledge while keeping abreast of changes in procedures, laws and regulations relating to work responsibilities and the construction industry.

 

Typical Duties:

 

  • Committed to SLA’s central core values, confidently making and standing by decisions using ingenuity and resourcefulness regularly going above and beyond minimal expectations.
  • Establish and maintain control for all project administration thru the use of the SLA management system, Procore.
  • Assist in solving issues and working with the Architect and Owner while executing with the subcontractors and team.
  • Assume responsibility and appropriately administer sound management practices for your project success.
  • Accountable for monthly financial project reporting and appropriate use of company Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Develops scope of work for every division and utilizes SLA’s de-scope process.
  • Schedule and lead project meetings.
  • Facilitate schedule creation, maintenance, and compliance.
  • Assure compliance with all standards, regulations and laws, safety policy, affirmative action, and equal opportunity employment goals.
  • Responsible for project risk management procedures, insurance requirements and execution of project specific quality control plan.
  • Responsible for the overall pre-construction, construction and closeout phases of the construction project.
  • Work cooperatively with on-site construction team and ensure thorough documents, plan/ specification, review and understanding to assisting in implementation in field.
  • Frequent on-site visual project review. Walk the job to ensure compliance with standards, regulation, laws, zero injury safety policies, construction schedule, QA/QC and all document requirements.
  • Assist with primary and secondary estimating and marketing efforts.
  • Assist with the bidding and procurement process.
  • Prepare and execute subcontractor contracts.  Lead the SLA project specific change management procedures.
  • Collaborate with on-site construction superintendents, project engineers, construction coordinators, architects, subcontractors, owners and owner’s representatives.
  • Develop an expert knowledge of construction technology.
  • Develop friendly, personal relations with others, talk persuasively and fluently, sell ideas or other intangibles.
  • Lead, Manage and be Accountable.

 

Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications, & Experience:

                       

Education and experience to include: Minimum 3 years of experience in construction related field and/or BS degree in construction management or engineering (or related field).  Job requires a working knowledge of estimating, project management, accounting, and construction management software.  Candidate must have an understanding of construction process and safety procedures. Must be able to take direction and perform tasks but also delegate tasks.  Minimum OSHA 10 (preferably OSHA 30) safety certification.
